Rothesay Isle Of Bute
Jan 9th, 2012 | By FJH | Category: PhotosRothesay town is located on the Isle of Bute on the Firth of Clyde. Rothesay can be reached by ferry from Wemyss (pronounced ‘weems’) Bay on the west coast of Scotland.
Rothesay was once a popular tourist attraction for victorian Glaswegians who used to sail down the Firth of Clyde on steamers, commonly known locally as going “doon the watter”, (down the water).
After the 1950s, Rothesay was waning as a popular tourist resort and by the 1960s cheap package holidays abroad really hit Rothesay hard. But now the town is being rejuvenated and is becoming popular again.
I wouldn’t say that spending a whole week in Rothesay is my idea of a holiday, but certainly if you look out for cheap weekend hotel deals, then you will enjoy your stay in Rothesay.
Here’s a video slideshow of Rothesay created by scalpsie…
