Which Scottish Political Party Do You NOT Trust?

Aug 29th, 2011 | By | Category: Scottish Politics

Which Scottish political party do you NOT trust – the party you believe that has let the Scottish people down the most? Not just from the lifetime of the present parliament, but since 1999 when Scotland first became a devolved parliament.

Before you make a decision, here is a table showing how many seats in Holyrood each political party won after the May 2011 election, along with a link to their official websites.

Political PartySeatsWebsite
Scottish National Party69Scottish National Party
Scottish Labour37Scottish Labour
Scottish Conservatives15Scottish Conservatives
Scottish Liberal Democrats5Scottish Liberal Democrats
Scottish Green Party2Scottish Green Party
Independent1Margo MacDonald
129

I have omitted the independent MSP Margo MacDonald from this poll, as she is not affliated to any political party.

You are very welcome to post a comment after you have voted, to let us know why you feel that party let Scotland down, but please moderate the language – and no flaming, just good old-fashioned debate.

  1. [...] Scotch Potch on which political parties don’t earn trust. [...]

Only Scottish National Party and Scottish Green Party are registered political parties in Scotland as per Electoral Commission. Neither Scottish Labour ‘Party’ , Scottish Conservative ‘Party’ nor
Scottish Liberal Democrats ‘Party’ are real political parties they are merely branches of London HQ’ed and London controlled political parties. Even after much hyped Scottish Labour review there is no change here and no desire to set up as a real and independent Scottish political party. The Unionist parties unwillingness to even set up and register their own party is a con job on the Scottish people who reasonably on the ballot papers seeing their ‘party’ names would think they are indeed ‘parties’ rather
than branches. Deceiving the public in this way and doing so for decades proves that this
Unionist cabal who will gang up on SNP at any opportunity can’t be trusted to look after
Scotland’s best interests – none of the three of them can be trusted.

    Hi Traquir

You make a valid point about only 2 of the 5 parties in the Poll being registered as Scottish political parties.
I suppose I could have worded the Poll differently, but I just wanted to get the views of the Scottish people about which party they do not trust, irrespective of where that party is controlled from.
The LibDems, Labour and Conservatives are all running scared and are mounting all-out attacks on the SNP, which pleases me because it shows that these parties are getting really worried and that finally, Scotland has a real ‘Scottish’ party in government.
I wonder what Alex Salmond’s inaugural speech would have been, if back in 1999, the people of Scotland had seen through Labour and voted SNP?
    Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Frank. Your phrasing of the question was spot on as even although they are not Parties that is the label/marketing that they have spun so needs to be used. Your right they are running really scared.
As you say would have been very interesting back in 1999 had Scottish people seen through these
Unionists as wolf’s in sheep clothing. Even more interesting is if Scottish Labour had not inflicted
one of their deepest treacheries on Scotland (although McCrone & 6000sq mile 1999 annexation are
way up there to) with the 40% rule where they denied the majority yes vote (51.6%) which would have
set up a Scottish Parliament in 1979 and given a level of protection against England imposed Thatcher Government, but instead the majority Yes vote was overturned with
Labour conjuring up the dead and non-voters
as being against the Referendum and subsequently their Feeble Fifty Labour MPs left Scotland
to be decimated by Thatcher&small but well rewarded set of Scottish turncoat officers.
